We recommend cleaning your steamer with a solution of 50% water and 50% vinegar. Use an old toothbrush to get into all the nooks and crannies. After cleaning your steamer, run it for a full cycle before using it to clean your cup again.
We recommend sterilizing your cup before and after each period. If you are prone to yeast infections, then sterilizing your cup daily is recommended.
We recommend using purified or distilled water in the steamer. Tap water may contain minerals that can create build up, which may reduce the steamer’s lifespan.
The steamer will run until the majority of water has evaporated. Typically this takes 1-3 minutes.
Yes, steam can be hotter than boiling water. Generally speaking, water boils and turns to steam at 100°C (212°F), although this can vary depending on altitude and atmospheric pressure. After water changes from a liquid to a gas, it can continue to heat up and become much hotter than water in liquid form.
Once the cup is removed from the steamer, it is exposed to the elements around it, which will technically contaminate the cup. That is why we recommend steaming your cup immediately before you use it at the beginning of your cycle (just make sure your cup has time to cool off before you insert it).
Yes, just add plain, distilled water to the steamer and it will do the rest.
No, unlike boiling, steaming your cup isn’t as harsh, since there is no chance of the cup melting when it touches the edges of the pan.
Yes, the steamer will sterilize each cup after use, so there is no risk of cross contamination.
Yes, you can steam your cup every day during your period if you choose.
We do not recommend using soap in the steamer as this can create a residue, which is difficult to clean.
